See the ISLA Recommended Units video posted in the Video Section for further details. GO units are harder to use running in chop compared to any other machine with buttons/knobs and in our opinion offer zero practical advantage vs. GO units are not the best choice for any highly detailed chart used to run inshore. However, we don’t recommend any Simrad GO units because they are touch screen only and the 7 and 9 inch GO units have inferior screen resolution. If you do not have a lot of room on your console for a larger unit as is often the case, we recommend the use of a high quality adjustable mount such as Balzout or Cisco Fishing Systems which have small footprints and will allow you to float the unit over the console in a perfect position.Īll of the machines noted above including GO units and in all sizes run our charts just fine. Larger screens have the best resolution, are easier to see, provide the best situational awareness, and are easier to operate on the water when running. Once you run ISLA on a larger screen you will never want a small screen again. The notion that 16’ and 18’ boats are best suited to small screens is fallacy. if you run a small boat and think 12″ is way too large, think again. We have hundreds of 12” units running ISLA charts on small boats including Gheenos and small side console rigs. The imagery looks good on all the units but is much better on larger screens. Screen resolution is important with our imagery. 12” units work the best with our product and are much better with ISLA charts than small screens such as a 7” which all have inferior screen resolution. We recommend the largest screen possible. Lowrance Hook and Simrad Cruise Units are NOT supported as they do not have the capability to run any charts with Imagery. ISLA charts run exclusively on Navico machines (Simrad, B&G and Lowrance). They are easy to load and compatible with most Navico chart plotters (including Simrad, Lowrance, and B&G units). No other marine chart comes close to the accuracy or detail of ISLA charts. ISLA provides detailed tracks that cover very shallow and remote inshore areas as well as primary deeper runs but due to the inshore detail provided ISLA’s charts are most popular with owners who run flats and bay boats that draft 13″ or less at rest. Explore without running aground or any lower unit damage. And in addition, we added many thousands of miles of proven low tide tracks as an additional optional map layer so you can follow a track from virtually any location in any direction to any location.

You can subscribe to Professional version of Fishing Status and gain access to all Fishing Map downloads. We corrected all of the pervasive and long standing substantive shortcomings in all of the other GPS charts that inshore boaters find so frustrating including 1) the dated dark and missing low res images that are useless in so many areas and go fuzzy when zoomed, 2) the thousands of inaccurate navigational markers, and 3) the missing chart features such as the precise locations of dangerous obstacles including flats and bars, navigational posts, stakes, signs, local buoys, poll & troll zones, manatee zones and idle zones.
